Athletic Performance

In today’s world of youth, high school and collegiate sports, there has been a trend of a training that is typical called speed, agility and quickness.  At the Center for Athletic Performance, we use the term Athletic Performance Enhancement for the same thing. Anyway you look at it, the best way to prepare as an athlete and to become a better athlete is by taking advantage of a proven system of training that yields the results you are looking for.  To be in top physical and mental condition for your sport and life.

CAP’s training programs are geared to first reduce the chance of non-contact injury and secondly improve the athlete’s ability to run faster, jump higher, improved first-step explosiveness, improved agility and increased flexibility/mobility.  Any athletes foundation to being the best at their given sport,  we believe should go as follows:

STABILITY/MOBILITY - Foundation

1. The athlete must demonstrate the ability mobilize each joint and stabilize each joint in multiple directions.  The more stability (the ability to absorb force and maintain proper joint alignment), and the better mobility (joints ability to go through the required Range of motion without compensation),  the better the athletes ability to move efficiently during fundamental movement patterns.

STRENGTH - 2nd Level

2.  Strength is the body’s ability to exert force into or onto a physical object.  When you look at the body’s strength capabilities, it is well-documented that every individual no matter what age can develop strength.  Strength is the cornerstone of movement.  If you want to move yourself, or an object, it takes strength.  The more strength the more force you put into the ground when sprinting, the faster you move.  However, if you lack stability and mobility you will not develop maximum strength.

POWER – 3rd Level

3. Power is the body’s ability to move itself or an object at maximum speed in the minimum amount of time.  In order to do this well, you must have the first 2 levels.  Stability/Mobility and Strength Development should come first.  This allows the body to be explosive in any direction at any moment’s notice without interruption.

The Ultimate Scenario – When you, as an athlete, can maximally reduce force (decelerate), stabilize force (body ontrol) and produce force (accelerate), in an efficient manner, you are working at the highest level of athletic performance and achieving the ultimate in sports performance!

SKILL DEVELOPMENT -

As an athlete who wants to maximize skill development, it is important to realize that without the above foundations of movement in place, you cannot achieve your highest potential in skill development.  Obviously in the real world, utilizing both skill development and athletic performance, along with mental skills training is the ultimate PROGRAM for any athlete.  At CAP, we truly believe you can become a better, more productive and efficient athlete utilizing our training programs as a foundation for your skill development at anytime of your athletic career.
